According to the Associated Press, a woman in Anne Arundel County, Maryland,
has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and a related conspiracy
charge after trying to hire a hitman to go after her husband.
Her lover was the one who actually attempted the hiring, but the hitman
was an undercover police officer, as the AP reports, and arrested him.
This arrest led to the wife, after police discovered the affair and connected the dots.
The wife is alleged to have given her lover some money and helped him plan
the hit, though it’s not clear how it all would go down, had the
hitman actually been a hitman. But if the state is able to prove its case,
it’s easy to assume that this Maryland woman wanted out of her marriage
in a bad way.
In Maryland, first-degree murder can be defined as murder done with deliberate
intention, or that which is “premeditated,” such as an attempt
to hire a hitman.
